To find rides, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the movement patterns of people in your city. Though each city is different, most cities have five popular rideshare times they share in common.
The morning rush hour is a great time to find riders on their way to work.
(Those same office workers might head out again at lunchtime in search of food, or might order delivery.)
As the workday comes to an end, the evening rush hour is another great time to find riders.
Think about the weekends in your city. What events are happening around you this weekend? Sporting events and concerts are major drivers of demand.
Study your airport arrivals and departures to get a sense of how many people are coming into or out of town. There are usually more flights around holidays. Business travelers tend to travel on Mondays and Fridays.
When in doubt, follow the alcohol! Wait near bars and nightclubs around last call and you’ll almost certainly find passengers in need of a safe ride home.
If you aren’t sure of the movement patterns of your city, take a clue from the driver apps. Take a look at what the Uber app is showing us.
You can use your driver apps to tell when and where surges happen in your city.
By keeping track of common surge times, you’ll be able to pinpoint the demand spots in your market.
