Mileage tracker troubleshooting
There are a number of settings and permissions that can impact the accuracy of the Gridwise mileage tracker. If you’re having trouble with the tracker, please check the following settings in your phone.
Location allowed always
Gridwise needs to be able to access your location at all times in order to track your miles while the app is in the background.
iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Gridwise → Always
Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time
Precise location on
Gridwise needs your precise location in order to track your miles accurately.
iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Gridwise → Precise Location
Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Permissions → Location → Use precise location
Motion and fitness activity on
Gridwise needs your motion and fitness activity in order to know when to start and stop the mileage tracker, deliver mileage tracking reminders, and save battery when you’re not moving.
iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → Gridwise
Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Permissions → Physical activity → Allow
Cellular data on
Gridwise uses cell tower locations to track your miles more accurately, and uses cellular data to save your mileage.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data
Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Mobile data
Wi-Fi on
Gridwise uses Wi-Fi to detect when you start moving and track your miles more accurately.
iPhone: Settings → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi
Android: Settings → Network & internet → Internet → Wi-Fi
Background app refresh on
Gridwise needs access to background data in order to save your mileage while the app is in the background.
iPhone: Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Gridwise
Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Mobile data & Wi-Fi → Background data
App battery usage unrestricted
In some cases, setting Gridwise’s app battery usage to “unrestricted” may improve accuracy on Android devices.
Android Only: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → App battery usage → Unrestricted
Notifications on
Notifications need to be allowed in order for Gridwise to send you mileage tracking alerts and reminders.
iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Gridwise → Allow Notifications
Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Notifications
